Sometimes, bloggers or webmasters may want to display and show contents from other blogs, and the most easy way to do so is by fetching and importing the RSS feed from external sites and display the RSS feed items on own WordPress blog. Doing so will introduce readers to related external contents, or promote other relevant sites. There are plenty of ways or methods to fetch and display the feed items or contents, or aggregate the Atom or RSS feeed, either by using plugins, external services or using PHP scripts.
On WordPress blog, there are also many choices on how to display or showcase the feed contents on the blog site. For example, webmasters can show the feed titles with excerpts on sidebar, reposted the feed contents as posts in the blog, or publish summary of feeds in within a blog posts itself. Not all plugins or codes can perform all transfer feeds in the way that you want, so trying out as many add-ons is necessary.
FeedWordPress
FeedWordPress is an Atom/RSS aggregator for the WordPress weblog software. It syndicates content from feeds that you choose into your WordPress webblog, and supports multiple feeds.
Khanh’s Quick Feeds (KQF)
KQF is an AJAX powered plugin that replaces the default dashboard with custom feeds that you specify. You can also add feeds to posts, pages and any template file you want! KQF allows you to customise the look and behaviour of feeds the way you like. It has a polling feature that will check for feed freshness at predetermined intervals.
Friends RSS Aggregator (FRA)
FRA Wordpress plugin enables a Wordpress installation to have a livejournal.com-like friends page. By creating a group of friends’ or others’ weblog links with RSS/Atom URIs in a particular link category, a user can display an aggregated list of posts by date or name. FRA allows aggregation of any group of links (that specify RSS URIs) in one or more link categories.
inlineRSS
inlineRSS allows you to add a few different kinds of feeds (RSS, RDF, XML or HTML), files of any sort, and PHP scripts to your Wordpress site, for example del.icio.us, Yahoo’s MyWeb, AudioScrobbler or Google Calendar, and other favourite sites.
Flickrss
Flickrss is a Wordpress plugin that displays the latest comments of your Flickr account in your Sidebar. As a bonus it automatically detects if you’ve got FAlbum installed on your blog and then offers you to link the comments to the gallery in your blog rather than back to Flickr.
Content Related Rss Feeds
Content Related Rss Feeds displays content related rss feeds. It takes the most relevant keywords from the post content and goes and finds feeds containing those keywords, and does that automatically, without the need of manually searching for appropriate feeds.
Digest Post
Digest Post fetches an RSS feed on a regular basis (usually daily) and posts a list of links to the newest articles as a digest post to your blog.
FeedCache
FeedCache prevents multiple HTTP requests with each page load since the feeds can be read from the cache file.
RSSImport
RSSImport displays contents of feeds in templates or with a PHP-Plugin in site and posts.
FeedSnap
Feedsnap is a very simple plugin that will render an RSS feed to your post.
GetRSS
GetRSS is a quick RSS puller for Wordpress.
BlogNetworking
BlogNetworking is a free plugin for WordPress to allow networks of blogger to share headlines through a central feed of affiliate sites.
BDP RSS Aggregator
BDP RSS Aggregator captures RSS feeds for the sites you select and displays them on your web site. It does this without using cron.
Bloglines RSS Aggregator Widget
Bloglines RSS Aggregator Widget displays a list of selected news and blog RSS syndicated feeds from Bloglines as a list of links. Links can be selected using desired search keywords. Any number of additional RSS feeds can be aggregated from extra sites to complete your list. Page access to RSS feeds can be cached using an embedded copy of Last RSS, by Vojtech Semecky, for efficient use of your web server.
BloglinesReader
BloglinesReader is a WordPress plugin which will download a list of websites that you monitor via Bloglines and display them in your WordPress blog. You can specify which folder in your feeds you want to limit the results to, as well as how you want the results displayed. It has the benefits of an integrated administration panel as well as the ability to format the output to integrate into your blog’s design.
DGE_InlineRSS
DGE_InlineRSS allows inlcusion of RSS feeds, external html etc from any source in any format, and optionally transforms the feed via XSLT.
CaRP: Caching RSS Parser
CaRP pulls free content and display on your website from feeds from blogs, YouTube, CNN, BBC News, Amazon.com, eBay, Craig’s List and etc. CaRP will update the feeds contents everyday. Only CaRP SE is free, and it’s not a WordPress plugin. Thus you will need some PHP knowledge to implement it.
FeedBurner BuzzBoost
FeedBurner BuzzBoost displays feed items’ title and content on a blog by using JavaScript.
